Mixing at low levels will allow you to concentrate longer and to hear more details within your mix.
Mixing in lower volumes will also decrease the amount of reflections in your room if you do not have professional acoustic treatment making it easier to hear the speakers and not the room.
This will also protect and keep your ears fresher for longer.
